2010 Children’s Water Education Festival
On March 24
th
and 25
th
, more than 5,000 fourth, fifth and sixth grade students converged at the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace Foundation in Yorba Linda to celebrate the 14th Annual Children’s Water Education Festival, the largest water festival of its kind. Presented by the Orange County Water District, Disneyland Resort, the National Water Research Institute and the Municipal Water District of Orange County, the Festival is an opportunity to educate students about local water issues and help students understand how they can protect and preserve water and their environment.
Over the past 14 years, more than 80,000 children from Orange County have had the opportunity to experience the Festival. This year students from nearly 70 public and private schools participated in Festival from 20 cities throughout Orange County. More than 60 organizations from California devoted their time to help educate these young environmental stewards. These organizations engaged the students through interactive educational presentations that taught to California State Science Standards. Educators consistently rate the education value of the Festival very high. There has never been a more important time to teach our children that they can make "blue" and "green" choices to help protect our water resources and environment for today, tomorrow and the future.
Hosting an event of this magnitude would not be possible without our many generous sponsors, presenters and hundreds of dedicated volunteers. Please view a complete list of participants below.
